Books I Read in 2020

Well, last year was kind of miracle year for me reading-wise. I did go in with all these goals like ‘read more fantasy’ and ‘finish some book series’ but 2020 kind of took me for a wild ride. Somehow I fell down the romance hole and became addicted to my Kindle and I’m so glad it happened, but at the same time I could hear my physical tbr screaming at me in the background. So You Want to Read Romance: Steamy Edition

I’ve been reading romance for quite a while now and I always love sharing the books I love with others so I figured I’d kind of set up a romance how-to for beginners or just in general for people who want to broaden their reading experience within the romance genre. Continue reading

So You Want to Read Romance: Sports Edition

I’ve been reading romance for quite a while now and I always love sharing the books I love with others so I figured I’d kind of set up a romance how-to for beginners or just in general for people who want to broaden their reading experience within the romance genre. I am by no means an expert and I love these lists because no reader will ever have the exact same taste so you’ll always come out with something different. Continue reading

Top 15 Books I Read in 2018

I read so many amazing books last year, but I feel like I need to narrow things down to the books I can’t stop thinking about. I think it’s obvious that I was quite obsessed with YA fantasy in 2018 just based on this list alone, but there were a few romance books that became all-time favourites! Continue reading

Why More Readers are Turning to Romance

I recently read an article about the recent trend in contemporary romance book covers and I thought I would talk about it a bit. Romance doesn’t typically appeal to all readers because they deem the covers “too sexy”.

Why I Decided to Drop Star Ratings

I’ve been thinking a lot about ratings lately and how much they actually affect my reviews. I feel like my ratings have come to define what I say about a book and I feel the need to explain myself more. Don’t get me wrong, it can be helpful for some to use these ratings to make a quick decision whether or not to read something. But, as someone who takes the time to write down her thoughts about a book, I’d rather you read what I have to say rather than make a judgement call when I rate a book out of five. Continue reading

My Book Review Process and What I’ve Learned

fullsizeoutput_43d

I’ve been reviewing books for almost a year and I thought it was time to reflect back on my thought process when it comes to reviews. I started out not really knowing how to structure my reviews beyond my general overall opinion, so most of my early reviews are pretty basic. It was tough because I’ve never really considered anything beyond my feelings about the book before. Continue reading

Books I Read in 2017

I’m super happy that I achieved what I set out to do at the beginning of 2017! I’m not sure what my original goal, but I ended up increasing it to 40 at some point and here I am having successfully completed my reading goal. Continue reading

My Goodreads Goal and Why I Set One

Over the past few days with New Year’s Eve and everyone out there making resolutions they either may or may not go through with, I have seen a lot of discussion over Goodreads/reading goals. Continue reading
