The first rule of book club:
You don’t talk about book club.
Nashville Legends second baseman Gavin Scott’s marriage is in major league trouble. He’s recently discovered a humiliating secret: his wife Thea has always faked the Big O. When he loses his cool at the revelation, it’s the final straw on their already strained relationship. Thea asks for a divorce, and Gavin realizes he’s let his pride and fear get the better of him.
Welcome to the Bromance Book Club.
Distraught and desperate, Gavin finds help from an unlikely source: a secret romance book club made up of Nashville’s top alpha men. With the help of their current read, a steamy Regency titled Courting the Countess, the guys coach Gavin on saving his marriage. But it’ll take a lot more than flowery words and grand gestures for this hapless Romeo to find his inner hero and win back the trust of his wife. Review:
Going into this one I wasn’t quite sure what I was getting, but I loved every minute of it. I couldn’t get enough of the guys and their book nerd nonsense! They were seriously invested in their romance novels and I just loved the camaraderie between the guys. Oh, and not to mention the book-ception that was happening! There are little snippets of the book Gavin is reading throughout and I loved the parallels between those scenes and his own situation. It was interesting seeing all the guys in the book club seeing the world through the female perspective.
This book wasn’t overly steamy, but it did definitely have its moments. Thea and Gavin were constantly taunting each other and then they would be at each other’s throats and it was a delicious tension build-up. Also, I have to hand it to Thea’s sister because she was NOT having it with Gavin. She literally played songs about being single and I DIED. Please tell me she gets a book, too!
Also, can we just talk about Mack?! He’s such a charming teddy bear of a man and I seriously need his story ASAP.
Also if you love grand gestures…well. I’ll just be over here impatiently awaiting the sequel…*sigh*.
