Title: The Friend Zone
Author: Abby Jimenez
Publisher: Forever Romance
Publication Date: June 11, 2019

Kristen Petersen doesn’t do drama, will fight to the death for her friends, and has no room in her life for guys who just don’t get her. She’s also keeping a big secret: facing a medically necessary procedure that will make it impossible for her to have children.

Planning her best friend’s wedding is bittersweet for Kristen—especially when she meets the best man, Josh Copeland. He’s funny, sexy, never offended by her mile-wide streak of sarcasm, and always one chicken enchilada ahead of her hangry. Even her dog, Stuntman Mike, adores him. The only catch: Josh wants a big family someday. Kristen knows he’d be better off with someone else, but as their attraction grows, it’s harder and harder to keep him at arm’s length.

The Friend Zone will have you laughing one moment and grabbing for tissues the next as it tackles the realities of infertility and loss with wit, heart, and a lot of sass.

Review: Ohhh man this book wrecked me in so many ways! What an emotional rollercoaster gahhh. I pretty much fell for this book on the first page because the writing and the witty banter hooked me right away. I’d also like to point out that this book hit me with some fave movie references as well. How can a book mention Dirty Dancing and The Princess Bride and not have me turn into a puddle of goo? I actually had to pause, put the book down, and squeal when those references happened.

The Friend Zone is not only a fun romance, but it’s also an important one as well. At its core, this story is about a woman dealing with infertility and how it will affect her life. It ends up getting in her way more than once when she finds herself suddenly falling for firefighter Josh. Their relationship is a total will-they-won’t-they and sometimes I just wanted to lock them in a room together and force them to figure their crazy emotions out.

Also, shoutout to my man Stuntman Mike for being the worlds Best Boy. Seriously, I want that dog in my life. I also just straight up enjoyed all those Josh and Kristen moments. They were cute and there was no lack of chemistry, phew! Be prepared for a total slow burn romance that will practically make you combust.

This book was definitely what I was looking for and I’m so glad it lived up to the hype surrounding it! I highly recommend checking this one out, especially if you love a romance that is at once fun and witty and emotionally charged.
