Top 15 Books I Read in 2018

I read so many amazing books last year, but I feel like I need to narrow things down to the books I can’t stop thinking about. I think it’s obvious that I was quite obsessed with YA fantasy in 2018 just based on this list alone, but there were a few romance books that became all-time favourites! It’s pretty difficult picking favourites, but these are the books I honestly cannot stop thinking about:

Ace of Shades by Amanda Foody

I really loved the world-building in this one! Everything was so vividly written and I felt like I was actually in the book. I also really enjoyed the ensemble cast and I look forward to reading the sequel.

Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli

Now I’m not normally a sucker for contemporary books but OH MY HEART! This has to be one of the cutest books I have ever read and I can’t stop squealing about Simon and Blue.

Children of Blood and Bone by Tomin Adeyemi

I was so not prepared for the epic journey this story would bring me on. It was jaw-droppingly good and a total force of nature. This book shook me to my core.

Sky in the Deep by Adrienne Young

This book was the beginning of my viking spiral and I now I NEED vikings. I also need more of Adrienne’s incredible writing! This book was a total breath of fresh air
-the beginning of my viking spiral

Furyborn by Claire Legrand

What I loved about this book was that it felt like I was reading two books at once. It was satisfying to see where the pieces fit and how everything connected! Also, I need some more Simon pronto. When does Kingsbane come out again?

Seafire by Natalie C. Parker

Two words: adrenaline rush! This book is about an all-female crew taking on a warlord on the high seas. It was non-stop action and I absolutely loved the characters!

Girls of Paper and Fire by Natasha Ngan

This story took my breath away! The writing was so beautiful and everything jumped off the page. Everything from the romance to the mythology was utter perfection and I’m dying to get my hands on the sequel.

Shadow of the Fox by Julie Kagawa

THAT ENDING. Also, the non-stop action, magic, and endless obstacles. Not to mention kitsunes, demons, samurai, and ronin!

The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller

Greek mythology. Tragic romance. This book was so heavy with the emotions and it’s satisfying to savour every last bit of it. Also, the writing. Oh, and let’s not even talk about feels because my heart is still sobbing.

The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon

I felt the romance in my SOUL. This was such a complex, yet satisfying story because this woman has a way with words. Most surprising favourite read of 2018!

Warrior of the Wild by Tricia Levenseller

This book fuelled my deep need for vikings in the best way. It’s all about fighting against the patriarchy, survival, and romance. There is so much danger, and let me tell you: Rasmira does not fear death, that’s for sure. This was just so atmospheric and a satisfying standalone.

The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon

I could say I’m just happy I finished the TOME, but I’d be lying. What’s not to obsess over? Talking dragons, magic trees, mages, queens, dragon wars, romance! I could list everything I love, but that might take a while. Priory just basically screams EPIC.

The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang

This was the perfect blend of cute and sexy and I just LOVED it. My heart just felt so full after reading and every time I think about Stella and Michael I just want to squeal with joy.

Josh and Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating by Christina Lauren

I’ve never laughed (cackled?) so hard while reading a book?! Hazel was an absolute HOOT. I had a perma-smile while reading and just thinking about it beings me so much joy. If you love a good rom com, HIGHLY recommend!

The Hating Game by Sally Thorne

This was the ultimate enemies-to-lovers romance! It had a crazy rivalry that resulted in the craziest sexual tension ever. Everything about this book was basically amazing and I’m dying for more Sally Thorne.
